The Little Gem Magnolia is the perfect tree for your yard if you are seeking a smaller version of the evergreen magnolia without sacrificing any of the usual beauty. The Little Gem is recognized for its prolific flowering that lasts 6 months of the year, from May through October. It can flower in as little as two to three years. Like other Southern Magnolias, the Little Gem Magnolia produces large fragrant creamy white saucer shaped flowers that are 8 inches wide. The Little Gem has beautiful, oblong shaped, dark-green, shiny leaves with the underside covered with a fine, red-brown fuzz. It tends to bloom more than the Bracken��s Beauty. The Little Gem Magnolia reaches only 20-25 feet with a spread of 8-12 feet and has a slow growth-rate. It makes a great specimen tree. Little Gem is hardy to 5 degrees and USDA growing zones 7-10.
