Sturon is a popular, dual-purpose onion variety. Flavorful green onions are ready to harvest just a few weeks after planting. If you prefer tasty onions that can be stored, allow the bulbs to mature. The round bulbs have smooth, brown skin and yellow flesh with a strong, sweet flavor. Sturon matures early, delivers high yields and has good resistance to bolting. Plus, growing Sturon onions from sets is relatively easy. For bunching or green onions, plant just a few inches apart. For storage onions, space 4 in. to 5 in. apart.
