Begonia Maculata, Polka Dot Begonia: Begonia maculata, the polka dot begonia, is a species of begonia native to southeast Brazil. It grows naturally in the rainforest in south America. Begonia maculata loves bright, indirect light, but can also thrive in slighter lower light situations. Avoid direct sunlight, that will burn the leaves and dry them out. Begonia maculata, is a splashy show-stopper that looks fantastic with it’s olive green leaves and contrasting spots. It’s a houseplant that is likely to turn heads in your home or office. The key to successful Begonia Maculata care is proper watering. They like to remain moist and should not be allowed to dry out. Their leaves are sensitive to moisture, so care need to be taken when watering. Under the right conditions, polka dot begonias produce clusters of white flowers. The blooming season is spring until late summer.
