Description
A butterfly banquet, flat clusters of brightly colored flowers make the perfect feeding platform that butterflies seek out. Think of Dallas Red lantana as like America’s lantana, a flashy hybrid sporting bright red flowers with golden-yellow highlights. The flower party starts in late spring and endures well into fall. Very heat tolerant, this is the plant to use in those hard-to-crack spots where other plants have failed to thrive or survive. Will cover bare spots with bright green foliage and butterfly-loving flowers. Use on sun-drenched rocky hillsides, slopes, banks, borders, edgings, or to quickly obscure utility boxes, irrigation controls, posts, or curbs. Also a flowery gem in containers and hanging baskets or when cascading over retaining walls. Takes to pruning. Drought tolerant too, so water deeply but infrequently. Grows to 3′ and high and wide. Tolerates poor soils. Provide full sun. Flowers nearly all year, especially in frost-free areas. Hardy to Zone 10/32 degrees F.
